Deluxe Best of Kenya
Day 1. Nairobi.
Upon arrival you will be met by a Real Africa representative and transferred to your hotel, the Giraffe Manor. Giraffe Manor is Nairobi’s most iconic, historical building, dating back to the 1930s, and is reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. Whilst the building itself resonates with the past, very much present is the herd of eleven resident Rothschild giraffe who tend to visit the Manor in the mornings and evenings to greet guests and sniff out some snacks before venturing out into their sanctuary of 140 acres. From 1974, Giraffe Manor was the home of Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville whose lifelong ambition became the preservation of this beautiful and threatened species of giraffe. Dinner and overnight at Giraffe Manor. HB

After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Samburu National reserve. Upon arrival you will be met by lodge guide and transferred to the lodge. The safari experience in Samburu is very different from that found in any other part of Kenya. The Samburu Special Five (Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx) are unique to this area, whilst a strong cultural aspect complements the wildlife watching. The Samburu people are fiercely proud of their cultural traditions and delight in sharing their customs with guests, making interaction with locals a major highlight in any visit to Sasaab. Sasaab’s design is based on strong Moroccan principles, in which African heat is a central consideration. Each room is over 100m² in area allowing for enormous open air bathrooms and huge, comfortable beds. Couple this with expansive views and a cooling plunge pool, and you have the perfect formula. A central mess area welcomes guests on arrival with a cooling drink and a large main pool providing the ultimate cooling off spot. Dinner and overnight at Sasaab. FB
Day 3. Samburu.
Enjoy another day of game viewing in this arid but rich game reserve. Its dramatic landscape is blanketed by the hot equatorial sun for most of the year. Relief comes from the cool waters of the Uaso Nyiro (brown in the local Samburu language) river, which rises to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and vanishes beyond Samburu in the soggy expanse known as Lorian swamp. Return to your camp before dark. All meals and overnight at Sasaab. FB
